This is my story so far. I hope you like it! I still need a title for it, though, but you probably need to read more to know what it's about.

Chapter One: Washington Blues
I knew I was stuck with moving, but I wasn't going to make it easy for myself. Once my parents told me I was going to have to leave Idaho to move to Washington, I locked myself in my room and cried for 30 minutes. I didn't agree with leaving my best friend or all that I had here in Idaho for a whole new life. "It's your father's job," my mom tried to reassure me. "It got him transferred." Like that was going to help me!
I rose my head from my pillow. I knew I had to go today. I had no choice. But, our new neighbors DID have a kid my age. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad after all. I wiped my eyes with my handkerchief and stood up straight. I quickly applied some lipstick and pulled on my wool jacket. I inhaled deeply and left my room, silently unlocking the door as I went.
The smell of omelets, hash browns, and eggs wafted in the air. I sat down on a stool in the kitchen and helped myself to the delicacy. As I ate, my 9 year-old brother entered the room. "What are you doing???" he demanded loudly. "Those are my eggs!" I groaned and tried to explain that his food was on the OTHER side of the island.
He smiled and rubbed his hands together greedily. Then, he sat down and shoveled his hash browns down. I rolled my eyes and slid a piece of bacon into my mouth. Suddenly, something made me gag. It was a worm, trying to slide it's way down my throat. I spit the food out all over the table. "MAX, YOU LITTLE...." I screeched. "YOU PUT A WORM ON MY BACON!" While I was chocking the bacon up, I could see his smug little grin of his.
That creep, I thought. How could he? Soon later, my dad came running into the kitchen with a bat in his hands. Max screamed and jumped under the table. I giggled, but tried to stifle it when I saw my dad's evil stare. "He put a worm on my bacon!" I said, trying to sound calm.
"Is that true?" my dad questioned Max sternly. Max poked his head up from underneath the island and nodded. My dad sighed and set the bat down. Then, he grabbed my brother's ear and dragged him out of the kitchen. "OW OW OW OW OW!!!!!!!!" I heard him scream from all the way down the hall. I cleared my plate, pulled my gloves on, and stepped outside. I could see my breath in the cool September air. I shoved my hands into my jean pockets and walked down by our moving truck.
"You ready?" my dad asked. He had came out soon after I did. I nodded and we piled into the truck. My dad put the keys in the slot and turned them. The low rumble of the engine soothed me a bit. Then, Max came running out of the house with his Red Socks sweatshirt. He jumped in the car and my dad pushed the gas pedal. We were rolling to Washington!
